About

saully-face

Saul Lyons is a painter living in New York City and New Hope, PA.  Born in Eugene, Oregon in  the 1970s, he grew up around arts, writing and design in and around the counterculture of that era.  That environment charged him to continually expand in his creations.  His father is writer Richard Lyons, who taught at the University of Oregon with Ken Kesey.  Following in his father’s footsteps, he got a degree in creative writing from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA.  Much of his current show involves an installation matching paintings and sketches with passages of creative writing. His mother is a knitwear designer and taught him to love the creation of fabrics and clothing, eventually resulting in a long career in fashion.  Having spent much of his adult life as a designer of both clothing and fabrics working with vibrant colors, materials, textures and trims, he has recently branched out into painting.  Currently he is represented by Cathy Begg’s 43 Canal Studio Gallery at New Hope Arts Center.
